Course Introduction
Warehousing operations are at the heart of the supply chain of any organization. The ability to secure the storage and flow of supplies with an eye on balancing costs with desired service levels provides a formidable challenge to the warehousing professional. Managing a world-class warehouse is now recognized as a potentially major source of competitive advantage as opposed to just another source of the cost before the product reaches the customer. To achieve this competitive advantage, it is important to choose the right type of operation, processes, and equipment, and then understand and continuously improve performance through appropriate measures and controls. This training program is designed to teach warehouse functions, processes, organization, and operations. Also covers warehouse location, operation, management, controls, procedures, finance, security, cargo/materials handling, and productivity.
This training workshop is structured to prepare supply chain professionals in warehouse operations with a fundamental understanding of the physical, technological, process, and safety considerations of warehouse/distribution operations. Additional topics include facility configuration, storage, and handling techniques, metrics, customer service considerations, and the role of distribution operations in different industries. Includes exposure to bar-coding, picking and shipping processes, and storage and sorting systems.
