Course Introduction

Emergencies and disasters can occur at any time without warning. The more a corporate is prepared for an emergency, the better they will be able to act, minimizing panic and confusion when an emergency occurs. The purpose of this training is to help employers develop emergency response plans that will meet the specific needs of their businesses. This program trains ERT members to handle various emergencies by developing Emergency Response Plans (ERP), understanding Emergency Procedures and executing Incident Command System (ICS) during a disaster.

Objectives

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Plan and prepare effective emergency plans
• Develop the hierarchy of commands
• Understand Evacuation & Emergency response procedures
• Lead and contribute directly in the event of an emergency

Professional Impact

• Injury, mortality, increased disease morbidity rates for a variety of illnesses, subsequent displacement, and a lack of necessities, such as food and water.
• Caused by unsafe/unhealthy conditions that develop due to the effects of the disaster or events that occur from anticipating the disaster (e.g., carbon monoxide poisoning from improper generator use).
• The act of specifying and identifying locations at high risk for a specific hazard (e.g., areas vulnerable to flooding).
