Course Introduction
ASME PCC-2 Repair of Pressure Equipment provides methods for repair of equipment and piping within the scope of ASME Pressure Technology Codes and Standards. PCC-2 was written by the ASME Post-Construction Standards Committee (PCC) at the need for an acceptable engineering standard for inspection and maintenance of pressure equipment once it has been placed in service. These repair methods include relevant design, fabrication, examination, and testing practices and may be temporary or permanent, depending on the circumstances.
A process plant is predominantly made up of pressure vessels and piping. Anyone whose work is related to a process plant needs some basic understanding of engineering design fundamentals, and acceptable repair methods. This course is built to give basic background understanding of some of the key areas of code design and an industry standard best practice repair method to enhance the knowledge of Mechanical Engineers, including new Mechanical Engineering graduates who, although qualified in their own discipline, may not have received adequate exposure to ASME design codes and Practices.
This 5-day course is designed to meet the needs of Mechanical Engineers from Plant Maintenance, Reliability, Inspection, Construction and Shop Engineers from pressure equipment and pressure piping repair facilities with understanding of what it takes to repair a pressure equipment to an acceptable level and comply to regulatory requirement.
This training course will:
- Provide an awareness of the construction codes and regulations that govern the design and operation of a plant.
- Understand the in-service problems in pressure equipment and piping.
- Get introduced to all the industry standard repair techniques acceptable to Insurance and Regulatory (Temporary and permanent).
- Discover the fabrication and welding requirements.
- NDT and testing procedures for repaired equipment and piping.
- Do simple calculations at field level.
Objectives
At the end of this training course, attendees will learn to:
- Understand the importance of the code requirement/compliance.
- Gain insight of design basis used by the most common Codes.
- Learn to deal with piping and pressure vessel design requirements for new and repair work.
- Gain confidence to work independently.
- Expand knowledge to supervise junior engineers.
Additionally, by taking this training, attendees will have the following benefits:
- Enhance their knowledge base.
- Be more confident in their decision-making.
- Be technically sound. Understand the technical basis of doing a repair.
- Participate in a wider inter-department/ Third-Party discussion on equipment repair/construction.
Target Audience
Engineers from Engineering and Operating Company who are involved primarily in the Operation & Maintenance of a process plant. New graduates will immensely benefit from this course by setting their basics right at the onset of their career.
This course is suitable to a wide range of professionals but will greatly benefit:
- Maintenance/Plant Engineers (O&M)
- Shop Engineers
- Reliability Engineers
- Inspection Engineers
- Mechanical Engineers – Engineering/Technical
